Tom L2 in the RAAF
The following from documents and photos held by his son, are from Tom L2's time in the RAAF during World War II. The photographs of the planes date from near the end of the war when Tom L2 was stationed in Darwin.
Airmen were given double-sided silk 'escape maps', about the size of a large handkerchief or small scarf, to assist them if their plane crashed. Tom L2 kept his one of Europe:
