Dr Hugh M-P

Portrait of Officers of 128th Australian General Hospital, Port Moresby, Papua, in 1944. Captain Hugh Murray-Prior is in the middle row, 4th from right.

After the war, Hugh was appointed Medical Superintendent at Crown Street Women's Hospital. In the next photo, he is in the middle of the front row, with Pathologist J. Murray Moyes third from the left and resident medical officers. While at Crown Street, he (with Drs Bob Macbeth and Peter Crowe) collaborated with the talented Dr Reg Hamlin to reduce the neonatal mortality rate after prolapse of the umbilical cord.
